Brian Davis-2nd year
Head Coach
Coach Davis is excited to begin his second year as the head coach of Kentwood Basketball, and his twelfth season overall. Brian is a proud product of the exceptional Kent-School district and graduated from Kent-Meridian High School where he learned the fundamentals of the game from the legendary coaches, Mike Albrecht and Dave Jamison. After graduation, Brian entered the Navy and served our country for 2 years onboard the USS Norfolk (SSN-714). Upon returning to Washington, Brian worked in the commercial real estate industry while also attending Bellevue Community College. While working and going to school in Bellevue, Coach Davis was fortunate to learn and coach with Dave Jamison at Kentridge for six successful seasons. Coach Davis then moved to Bellingham to finish his education at Western Washington University, graduating in June 2010 with a B.A. in History and a Secondary Education endorsement from the Woodring College of Education. During his four years in Bellingham, Brian coached with the guru of Whatcom County, Dave Dickson, on the Squalicum Storm staff as a JV coach and Varsity Assistant. Squalicum was extremely successful making four consecutive state trips (2007-2010) and taking home trophies while Brian was an assistant: 3rd Place, 3A 2008, and back to back 2A State Titles, 2009 and 2010. Coach Davis brings a positive approach to coaching with a major emphasis on sports psychology, shooting, and confidence for athletes and teams. Coach Davis strives to be more successful than the most famous coach out of the Navy, Norman Dale coach of Hickory High.

Blake Solomon-2nd year
Junior Varsity Coach, Varsity Assistant
Coach Solomon is a proud graduate of Kentwood, class of 2005. During his time at Kentwood as a player, Blake played extensively during the most successful years in Kentwood basketball history. For three straight years, Blake was a member of teams that dominated the league and took home three straight state trophies: 3rd (Sophomore year), 1st (Junior year), and 2nd place finish (Senior year). Coach Solomon was named 2nd team all league his junior year and first team all league his senior year. He then went onto play four years of collegiate basketball spending the first two years at Big Bend Community College where he was named first team all east region both years. He later transferred to Northwest University in Kirkland, where he finished his career. Blake is expected to graduate December of 2010, with a degree in secondary education with an endorsement in health and fitness from Northwest University.


Brad Valentine-1st year
Freshman Coach, Varsity Assistant
Coach Valentine graduated from Kentlake High School in 2008 where he played basketball for four years under Coach Ron Charrier. Following graduation he continued his basketball career at Bellevue College playing for three years under Coach Jeremy Eggers. His dedication and hard work led him to a coaching position with Coach Eggers and the Friends of Hoop program for three years in the AAU program. Coach Valentine is currently pursuing a career in education with a goal of teaching at the middle school level. Coach Valentine is passionate about basketball and is excited about contributing significantly to the Kentwood basketball program.
